     MEET OUR SENIOR PARTNERS

    Bay Chapman Architect Designer

    Bay Chapman, Architect

A native of Alabama, Bay received a Bachelor of Architecture in 2000 from Auburn University and became a licensed Architect in 2010. After graduation Bay moved out west to Phoenix, Arizona and worked at an architectural firm for three and a half years. She spent as many post work afternoons and weekends hiking Dreamy Draw, Squaw Peak or Camelback Mountain. During the MLB season you’d also find her every Tuesday and Friday night home game at Bank One Ballpark watching the Arizona Diamondback play baseball.

She married a hometown man who moved her to the Big Apple. During her 10 year stint in New York City she worked for esteemed architects such as Robin Gunther and Douglas C Wright.

You will see Douglas C Wrights’ work graced in the publications such as Marie Claire House Beautiful, Architectural Digest. His work focuses on blending modernity with historic architectural influences. His sense of proportion and balance follow thru to the smallest details in his projects. He is the boss who taught her the importance of trim detailing and how it can set the mood in a space.

While in New York City, Bay lived close to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. She loved walking to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, going to concerts in the Park and taking recreational cooking classes at Murray’s Cheese and at the Institute of Culinary Education.

Since moving back to the South and establishing Chapman Architecture in 2013 she has focused on both renovations and new construction. During her new journey she developed working relationships with Rebecca, Elsa, Andrea which grew in to a friendship which led to Plan and Plant Design.

Often times during the summer you’ll find her two children, Charles and Wright, visiting job sites with her.

    Elsa Hoffman, Project Manager

As the youngest of five, Elsa learned at an early age that communication and collaboration are key in life. Growing up these skills meant survival in the backyard. Little did she know, how valuable these skills would be in her career.

Elsa would say communication between parties is the key to any successful endeavor including marriage and raising children.

She has developed proficiency in scheduling, managing and executing jobs big and small. Her experience in the estimating process has given her an appreciation for a client's budget.

Her passion for the creative process and attention to details gives her an advantage to complete projects for clients with positive results. She is driven by the philosophy that no matter your budget or the size of your project you deserve quality service.

Elsa and her husband, Greg have recently moved to Raleigh, North Carolina.

    Andrea Howell, Landscape Designer

Loving the outdoors began at an early age for Andrea!  Growing up on a farm, she found her love of plants through long summer days spent exploring outside and a yard full of camellias, azaleas, gardenias, live oaks and all the Southern favorites!

In college, Andrea found her home in the Horticulture department at Auburn University.  Specializing in landscape design allowed her to help simplify an overwhelming process for individuals who are excited about creating their perfect home. She was lucky to land her first real job at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The exposure to such a horticulturally diverse public garden allowed her to see a different perspective of how the outdoors can shape all types of people.

With more than 20 years of garden design experience, Andrea has worked on projects ranging from homes to retail businesses to hotels and event spaces from the mountains to the beach.  All of these projects require an attention to detail no matter the size.  Andrea loves to bring a fresh point of view to projects and develop trust with clients to help them achieve their goals while staying in budget.

When she is not outside, Andrea loves spending time with her children, Virginia & Hank. They love cooking, traveling and playing and are always looking for a new adventure.

    Rebecca Marsella, Interior Designer

Rebecca Marsella has had an eye for the prettier things as long as she can remember.  Raised in the deep south, Rebecca would wait each month for her mother’s Southern Living magazine to arrive to see all of the pretty things!   She wanted to major in design in college, but says she can still hear her father saying, “that is a waste of a good brain.”  Little did he know that would be her career and her passion.  Rebecca’s career in design came a little later when friends started asking her to help with their homes because they liked the “feel” of hers.  Later, she got into the furniture business, designing patio furniture and doing trend predictions for ten years while still doing her passion, interior design. Twenty years later she has never slowed down, traveling the world designing and having the time of her life tailoring homes and businesses to client’s styles.

Rebecca prides herself in being able to look at the client's taste and create the home that fits them while staying on budget.  Her personal style could be referred to as warm, traditional, eclectic. She has done businesses and homes that range from modern to farmhouse rustic and all in between.  Rebecca believes that a successful job is one that the client loves and is proud to show off. She often says that layers and personalization of a space are the key.  Any house can be pretty but a home should be lovely!
